Another rite of passage...

Today was Mad Science & Roller Derby Day at Summer Camp. All of the kids were allowed to bring their bikes, skates, skate boards and scooters in to participate in a roller derby.
My mom bought Andrew a bike last winter, but it was too big for him so we never really took it out for a spin. Seeing that he needed to take his bike to school today, I guess you could call yesterday evening a quick tutorial! I took Andrew out to show him how to ride last night and we didn't have much success the first go round. To his credit and mine, it was a sweltering 90+ degrees outside. I don't know why I thought we could function in that type of heat! We came back in the house to regroup in the A/C and he started riding in the kitchen. After a few more tries we took the bike to the gas station and put some air in his tires.
I took him to the basketball court in our development and he got right on and started peddling! He's really good at riding in circles and using his brakes. So if there is a circle/slam on brakes contest, he'd get first prize!
